New Measures Against Police Corruption

General Wilson Alulema, Ecuador’s Police Chief, declared that all 42,000 police officers in the country will take lie detector tests as a measure against corruption in the force. Additionally, officers will have to declare their assets.

These measures come as part of the Correa administration’s efforts to modernize the police, after massive demonstrations last September.
