BRIDGEGAP workshop on Cross Border Corruption, Kleptocracy, the role of AI and Digital Transformation in Fighting Corruption took place in Utrecht University on 12-14 June 2024. The first day featured introductory sessions and discussions on types of corruption, including an overview of the progress of different work packages under BridgeGap.

Prof. Alina Mungiu-Pippidi delivered a presentation outlining the key pillars of the initiative, how it will address the existing knowledge and implementation gaps and utilize new media & technologies.

The second day of the workshop featured alternative methods of corruption measurements with a focus on the gravity model and specific cases across different countries.

On the final day, presenters discussed how the new technologies can be implemented to advance the study of corruption. The day concluded with a discussion on increasing synergies between work packages and data science and the way forward.

After the workshop, participants from LUISS Guido Carli, including Elettra Latini, Alina Mungiu-Pippidi, Giacomo Sillari, met with Jerome Lario and Aleksej Heinze from Kedge Business School for a walk in the city.
